Orange County Fair - Mid-July to mid-August 2025. The FGQG has had an exhibit at the Orange County Fair for many years.  In previous years our booth was in the Home Arts Building and volunteers demonstrated how quilts are made and sometimes presented a trunk show on stage.  It was always an invigorating day, showing people some of the projects we work on, especially our philanthropy work. Hopefully organizations will be able to demonstrate their activities in person at the fair again next year.

Philanthropy

The Philanthropy Team works together to sew and collect items such as quilts, flannel receiving blankets, burp clothes (burpees), pillowcases or placemats to donate to organizations throughout Orange County and beyond.
The Philanthropy Team meets on the first Friday of the month to organize projects, materials, and plan for upcoming Sew Days.
If you are interested in joining the Philanthropy Team, please contact :
Philanthropy

  • Sew Days: Sew days are a fun and productive day where guild members volunteer to sew quilt tops that will be quilted and bound and to donate to charitable organizations. Other items like pillowcases, placemats, flannel blankets, and burp clothes (burpees) may be sewn.
  • Sew Days are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM. at the Orange Quilt Bee (Check newsletter or call to make sure that there has not been a date change). No Sew Day in December.
  • Donations of completed items and/or fabric can be made at the monthly guild meetings and/or at Sew Days. When you donate, you sign up to be entered into a monthly drawing for an Orange Quilt Bee gift card.
  • Quilts made by guild members are donated to CAST, Stand Up for Kids, VITAS, OC Memorial Hospital Cancer, and St. Joseph’s Adult Oncology Center. We make pillowcases for CHOC and VITAS. The Irvine Senior Center receives ongoing donations of placemats to use with the Meals on Wheels program. We make receiving blankets, burp clothes, and baby quilts for baby showers supporting wives of the deployed Marines from Camp Pendleton and 29 Palms Marine Bases.
  • Quilt sizes accepted: Baby, Lap/Throw (adult and children themed), Twin Bed (used for young adults moving out of foster care). Here are approximate dimensions but we accept quilts of any size!
